A big day for Todd...
And a proud day for Rowan...
So today I introduced the bottle to Rowan...
I have been pumping my breast milk and have a stock pile in the freezer...
It has been weighing on my mind whether or not Rowan will take to the bottle...
I'm lucky to not have to go back to work, so bottle feeding has not been mandatory...
However, I wanted Rowan to be able to take my breast milk from a bottle with ease in case Todd and I wanted some time alone...
I know imagine that right :-) ???
I also wanted Rowan to be able to do this in case I got sick or had a couple rough nights with him and desperately needed sleep...
I also wanted this experience for Todd...
I can only imagine what it's like to have a newborn Son 20 days old and never have fed him...
So today was the day...
And I'm happy to say that both Daddy and Rowan stepped up to the challenge...
I explained to Todd how to thaw my breast milk and prep the bottle...
(Thank you Aunt Tina for the bottle set, it worked like a charm)...
I introduced the bottle first to ease the transition...

He took to it instantly...
I immediately switched places with Todd...
Doctor's recommendations is that Rowan not associate me with a bottle, just the breast...
Todd stepped in...

Rowan continued to take the bottle with ease...

I'll admit, this was bittersweet for me...
I've been the only person feeding my little man for the past twenty days...
I'm sure this is hard to understand for someone that hasn't exclusively nursed their child...
So you'll just have to trust me...
However, the sadness quickly subsides when I saw the precious moment that was occurring with my Husband...

So that was our big day today...
Gracie is excited to feed her little Brother for the first time...
But I'm going to start the bottle feeding off really slow...
Maybe a couple bottle feedings a week...
I certainly do not want him to get to use to the bottle...
As the pediatrician has said...
The bottle is a lot easier to get milk from...
And often babies will get lazy and no longer take to the breast...
So slow and steady wins the race right...
I'm so happy we reached this point...
I'm so proud of Todd and Rowan...
Hope this finds you smiling,
I am!!!
